Our Inspirations
“Big Grammy” Diane Walton
Diane Walton was the original front porch. Her porch by the shore was more than a place—it was an invitation. With a cup of coffee in hand and the sea breeze at her back, she greeted neighbors with warmth, laughter, and genuine interest in their lives. She believed in kindness that was consistent, uncomplicated, and freely given. Diane taught us that community is built through presence, listening, and love—and her spirit remains the foundation of everything we do.
Melissa Paul
Melissa’s work as a hospice nurse reflects the heart of The Front Porch Project: showing up with compassion when it matters most. She walked beside patients and families during their most vulnerable moments, offering presence, dignity, and steady care when words often fell short. Her courage, empathy, and unwavering commitment to doing what is right—even when it is hard—continue to shape how we care for our neighbors and support families in need.
Founder & President
Vicki Paul
Vicki’s compassion extended to every living being. Her deep love for animals reflected her gentle spirit and belief that caring for the vulnerable is a responsibility we all share. She understood that kindness doesn’t stop at our own doorstep—it reaches outward to those without a voice
Karen Wenhold
Karen’s passion for working with children with special needs was rooted in her belief that every child deserves to be seen, supported, and included. She approached her work with patience, advocacy, and deep respect for each child’s individuality and strengths. Karen showed us that true care is attentive, affirming, and unwavering—and her influence continues to guide our commitment to inclusion, dignity, and community support.
